If you installed Librewolf through the apt package manager, and you want to uninstall Librewolf you can try this command:
sudo apt purge librewolf
You might want to update and upgrade your system before trying to re-installing Librewolf. I would recommend at least trying to update:
sudo apt update
sudo apt full-upgrade
To try to re-install Librewolf, you could try this:
sudo apt install librewolf
I would read my post here:
and here:
before proceeding with attempting to uninstall any programs. Not all of the problems in the first post will be applicable, but suffice it to say (seemingly) conflicts arose after trying to unistal certain programs via terminal, especially if they were listed in the GNOME “app store” (or whatever version is installed on PureOS by default). In the process of trying to solve the problem, perhaps I made a misstep, but it led to massive errors from terminal output that prompted me to wipe the hard disk and start over. I had a very similar issue to what you are describing with my own mini v2, and it prompted me to try switching to another OS. Make sure that you have updated PureBoot before you proceed with wiping the filesystem, otherwise you may run into problems as outlined in my second post, which I am still dealing with.
i will try to do the update first
then do the full upgrade
no change and says cant find librewolf
Maybe try purging extrarepo also? Did you use that to install Librewolf?
sudo apt purge extrarepo
Then you can try to follow the instructions from the Librewolf download page:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install extrepo -y
sudo extrepo enable librewolf
sudo apt update && sudo apt install librewolf -y
i go to the bottom of 9 dots then to software and uninstalled librewolf, restarted mini v2 loged in went again to 9 dots /software installed librewolf . i get the same problem where io want to go to a site look around get out of that site then move my mouse to bookmarks nothing will lite up and hit the mouse it does nothing got to get out of librewolf and then it works but every time i want to go somewhere else i must close wibrewolf restart it and go to another site. this just started about two updates ago… im ready to go buy a windows machine and for get about this bull with pureos or any other linux machine. there ios zero help from this company at all.
sorry about the typing mistakes i have braces on both of my hands and with them on i cant type well. without the wrist braces on it is very painful to type do to bone cist…
For what it’s worth, Librewolf has nothing to do with Purism. As far as I know, it’s not a browser that they have tried to support at all.
firefox-esr from the PureOS repos is a browser that Purism gave at least some attention to.
sudo apt install firefox-esr
ok i will try firefox-er
thank you for your help…i hope this will work… i have a new hd type of screen when i bought the mini v2 and a logitech keyboard and mouse all have worked for more than a year.
terminal says cant find firefox-er
missing firefox-eSr got it but now i dont know how to find it. would it be in the bookmarks? i have all my places on the left side vertical. like all the programs + librawolf, terminal, help everything is on my left side of screen as thats where i use all.
firefox is not safe with google and others that share your infomation…i already have a vpn and a firewall. cant get bookmarks to transfer from librewolf. yes librewolf is a browser
going to delete firefox the only safe browser id duckduckgo tried that terminal cant find it.
I would say not as safe for privacy as it had been in the past. Unfortunately, Mozilla has been slowly drifting towards a monetizing model - although far from the aggressive tracking of most other mainstream browsers.
But there is a hardened version of Firefox–ESR: Tor Browser - which really solves the above mentioned problem. Most people think that Tor Browser only works over the Onion network, but this is not strictly the case: it is very easy to configure it for clearnet and use a VPN for added privacy.
Tor Browser cannot be installed via a package manager: it comes as a bundle with all its dependencies and runtime contained in a folder - which you can use on a stick as standalone or on your home folder.
Another fork (and upstream collaboration) of Tor Browser is Mullvad Browser. It can be used with or without Mullvad VPN and it’s free. More interesting details at:
