Linux Phone in June 2026

Dear Purism,

thank you very much for that Linux Phone. I thought to buy some other Linux phone with modern hardware, but do not done this. Because i love my Librem 5 and the Updates build a more and more Stable System with every six month the time past by.

There are more and more usable Flatpacks and the Phone itself save more Power every day.

I just complain a bit that i can not install the latest POSH Software or enhanced Keyboard right now. But i will wait patiently. However i have some old Android Phones from 2019 and i thought that i may start them to be a replacement for my self compiled Android Phone from 2012 to supplant my daily alarm clock or have some usable Camera Device for taking Pictures on the road.

But now way. The Android drop its Support for even self compiled Updates years before and the Drivers are not supported and if i try to have some android phone with some community android and evil Alphabets surveillance capitalism development kid to train some LLM with my data. I have to have some security supported Android 14 from 2023 at last to a one or two years phone with at least 2 years supported software.

Its such a joke in 2026 that i can hold it. Thank you Purism that i can have a Linux Phone with a modern Kernel right now and Patches for Browser and the rest right now.

Yes the Batteries are some important feature to have a working device in future. My every day loaded mp3 player from 2012 works, and the 2012er Phone too but my 2019 Android Hardware for 250 Euros is some kind of a brick right now.

This is why i love Linux and you all to carry on the flame of support and hope every day. Thank you very much!

Yeah thanks! My phone is great, it takes pictures and stores my files like a computer. You’d be surprised how useful personal computing actually is (NOT android!).

Edit:
That being said, I have days where I wish I could dual boot to maybe Lineage and MicroG (or just very sad Google Play) to get efficient battery life and pretend to be part of society or something. Am I alone in that problem?

I dont like them, but as far as I know we can’t dual boot iOS mobile on here.

I did not try to install or use an anbox right here Dlonk. In my personal perfect future i would try to run the Anbox on my Server on the Internet with some local hosted LLM i trust and to just extract the information i want to know or share with my Server on my local Desktop or Server Hardware at home.

Like i just share the local GPS Info from my Librem5 and the Server with some local Anbox match it on some Anbox and Google App to just share the Picture or other important Meta-Info.

However i do not like this because the Meta Info is still enough and it generates Push-Notofications shared with Google or Apple for every Signal or Matrix Message. In a Sandbox its not private but like you are with your friends in a offline snowed location local in the mountains. It got out there later.

We have to wait and a chance to enhance local trusted A.I. service Systems right now to match the not free world out there and can keep some privacy. However its like some evil maid. Just its not a human but a computer and software.
