Live Boot trouble (HP hardware)

Edit: this issue seems to have resolved itself. I haven’t found an option to delete this thread

I want to install pureOS on my 2012 hp envy. II made a live boot image on usb, but on my hp machine, the boot crashes immediately. I am given the following errors:

Error: file ‘/vmlinuz-4.17.0-3-amd64’ not found
Error: You need to load the kernel first.

I tried the live boot on a different computer (windows 10) and it worked totally fine.

My machine is currently running a demo version of ubuntu … for some reason, I cannot get that to fully install either.

So, can anyone advise me on any settings/memory allocations I might need to make changes t to get pureOS booted?
