I recently upgraded my Pureboot firmware (my OS is QubesOS).
After the USB boot and reflash onto the BIOS, I got the chance to reconfigure the Heads settings.
One configuration setting is to reset several parameters about LUKS:
- disk recovery key passphrase
- disk password
But I can’t find my recovery key passphrase. I tried using the disk password, but it is seen as invalid.
The only option in the Boot menu, when the recovery key passphrase is invalid, is to re-install the OS from USB again. I recently re-installed QubesOS and I don’t remember being asked to set a recovery key passphrase AND a disk password.
Is my only option to wipe the LUKS drive, if I really want to reset the LUKS params.
Thanks
