microSD cardreader not working

Kinda sad to hear that. I will be careful with future removals of my sim card then. SIM still functions but my sd card reader shows only the above in disks. I am going to do a fresh reinstall just out of curiosity.

Is it possible to purchase a replacement board at the moment or are there backlogs that would prevent that from happening you think?

I would like to report back after a fresh LUKS image install. That my SD card reader is indeed dead, tested with 3 different microsd cards. Thatā€™s ok, not a huge loss, but unfortunate that can happen if hotswapped.

After a fresh install I can confirm the above statement. the Composite Gadget doesnā€™t exist from using lsusb.

There could be some confusion as to whether this command is issued on the desktop/laptop host into which the Librem 5 is plugged via USB or this command is issued on the phone itself.

You would have to ask Purismā€™s support about that.

I only use pico for phone img reinstalls.
This is done directly from the phones terminal.

Then I think you have misunderstood (for sure one of us has!).

On my phone, lsusb gives among other things

Bus 999 Device 999: ID 0424:4041 Standard Microsystems Corp. Hub and media card controller

where of course the Bus number and the Device number will be different on your phone.

lsusb -v -s n:m (where n and m are replaced by the bus and device numbers respectively) will show a Generic Ultra Fast Media Reader implementing the Mass Storage class interface.

I do have a uSD card inserted. I donā€™t know whether the output differs if no card is inserted or if the card reader believes that no card is inserted.

Iā€™m having the same issue apparently. Was there ever a solution?

Iā€™m having the same issue. The major difference with my L5 is that the uSD card reader was working for around 2 years up until switching the card between my L5 and a Moto Gx phone back to the L5. The output of fdisk -l does not list the uSD card at all.

My sim card tray is also slightly bent from all the sim/uSD swaps I have been doing and I have not been able to find replacements to order from the store since the uSD reader quit working, but that is probably an issue for another thread.

I suppose Iā€™ll need to use an alternative method to back everything up before I try to reflash this phone, unless someone finds a real solution to the uSD reader problem before I do.

You can use a USB hub in the meantime:

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, even with a new SIM/uSD tray, the uSD is still not detected. I have found some more issues that I have recently posted about. Hopefully I can start making headway on those soon.

Mine stopped working for ages and I didnā€™t send it back. One day out of the blue it started working again without fail. I made the mistake of rebooting and suddenly it doesnā€™t show anymore.

I donā€™t think this is a hardware issue.
