When I turn on my laptop it says I am missing firmware skl_dmc_ver1_27.bin. What does this firmware do and do I need to install it?

I do not think that there exists “need” to install related file, yet if you decide otherwise, you might want to download (Save Link As…) related .bin file from within following link and copy downloaded file to /lib/firmware/i915/, then update-initramfs -u -k all, as described here: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/556946/possible-missing-firmware-lib-firmware-i915-for-module-i915.
