Mobian on Librem 5

@veleno I don’t use WhatsApp, Telegram, etc and I have a social life. I understand that other people make different choices about the balance between comfort and security, but it’s possible to live without using asocial media under imperialist control. When I read all this, I’m very satisfied of having left Android many years ago.

Never noticed issues here. Anyway, sounds you have a better experience and that is good.

But I noticed recently that on Mobian Forky the Usage app shows much less CPU usage. I just think it is the more optimized GNOME software in later versions. So I am curious how much better PureOS Dawn and beyond become.

Well, you’re lucky you can!
My mom uses only whatsapp, my brother too!
All my large family (uncles, aunts, cousins,..) use whatsapp group (family group)!
All my friends are on whatsapp, some on telegram! I kindly tried to invite them into matrix… No one accepted!
Some clients (international ones) use only whatsapp (no calls, no sms)
The most interesting news channels I found are in telegram (nothing in mastodon)
A lot lot (90+ % of my clients using regularly facebook)
So to promote my job, although I’ve my website, I’m forced to use socials!

So it depends of what kind of life you have, what kind of job, family, friends,…

Anyway Gnome uses systemd. When I was on PureOS I tried to uninstall squeekboard to use another lighter keyboard but it was impossible because it was part of the huge meta-package! Uninstall squeekboard meant to uninstall almost the whole pureos!! Why to have it unused literally wasting the (already little) memory???
Istead I love OpenRT!! Super modular! I can remove everything I don’t need and/or substitute it with another software!
That’s Unix philosophy: one program do one function at the best!

I don’t know what’s the issue with removing Squeekboard. I am whining that it is not delivered with Mobian any longer (installing and switching to it breaks the OSK entirely). Personally I don’t have a problem with systemd, but I am also not much into the back-end and let this specific discussion do others. Maybe my opinion changes in future, maybe not. It is also a travel for me to learn more with time.

@agx listen to us and advocate for us needs. I do not like systemd either. I just say.
Guido you are a incredible programmer too, we just want you to be on our team(non-systemD)

Yes, SMS and MMS. Works fine. It crashes every once in a while, but I’m finding it is more stable then with byzantium.
