Never trust GCPT. There are many wrong information here. For example Purism also supports customers that installed Mobian. Also both systems are highly experimental and PureOS is not more stable than Mobian. PureOS just has better support for hardware, but less software support. In future there will even be no difference here. And Mobian is also very well tested on L5.

To answer your question short: if you want to use L5 as mobile computer (laptop/tablet replacement), go for Mobian. If you want to make calls, SMS and other phone stuff, go for PureOS. That is said for common end users - people who know how to fix stuff can also use Mobian for phone stuff. If you really care for free software everywhere, you should stick with PureOS. Both OS give you the same amount of “freedom” (you also can install proprietary stuff on PureOS), so this is not even anything you should consider when choosing your system.

I have no idea since I’m using Mobian just for testing. But what I know is that some people got it to work for calls etc. In additional Cell Broadcasting works out of the box with newer Phosh (with PureOS will get with Dawn).
