I assume others on this forum use Mullvad’s vpn service. As of about a month ago, the download no longer works with my Purism/PureOS laptop. I contacted Mullvad and they stated that Mullvad only works with Debian 11 or newer. Is anyone on this forum having the same problems or found a work around? Thanks in advance.
I know nothing about the VPN service but, FWIW, PureOS Byzantium is based on Debian 11.
I use the latest version of their app (2023.6) on Byzantium with my Librem 14 and Librem 5. You can always download the OpenVPN or Wireguard configs and manually set up those connections too.
You could use the Mullvad Browser.
novice user trying to install mullvad browser on librem 5 from repositories from their official web page. it says unable to locate package. is the browser compatible with lib
rem 5? was able to install and use mullvad vpn but not browser. im not on crimson yet if that matters. also dont know how to upgrade those 3 package either if that matters too.
I am assuming you downloaded the installer file from Mullvad website for the browser. Make sure you are in the download folder where the file is located. Then I think you will need to use the dpkg commend, so it will be something like sudo dpkg -i ./mullvad-browser,pkg The ./**** is the file you actually downloaded. I can’t remember if I was able to use apt install or not, but if you can, the command would be sudo apt install ./mullvad-browser.pkg or whatever the downloaded file is, and assuming you are already in that folder.
thanks for reply! i tried it both ways i entered the command prompts in terminal from the mullvad website. got the result in 3rd photo. i also downloaded the file from gnome or flatpaks. 2nd photo. (i have the files glitch where the long press menu goes away when lifting finger so got duplicate folders that are hard to delete). im not sure if i was supposed to type in the file folder name or a file with in the folder. looking in the folder none stood out as the one and i probably didnt type the command right. i am a novice at this, thanks!
Sorry, my mistake, I didn’t read your original message closely. You are trying to get mullvad-browser on the Librem 5? It won’t work. the Librem 5 is arm64 architecture, and the mullvad-browser is only built for x86 or amd64 architecture. I thought you were trying to install it on your laptops. It will work on your laptop, just not on the phone.
Oh shoot okay. Is there another comparable privacy browser that works on librem 5? Thanks!
for myself, I use Librewolf as my primary browser. It has worked well for me, and is decent on the privacy front.
