My linux reboots itsel randomly

Hi everyone,

I need your help!
I observed that since one or two weeks ago, my computer is rebooting on its own. I don’t have a lot of program running (purebrowser, slack, mailspring for instance) and for no reason at all, my screen becomes black, the sentence “^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^” appears and then the login session. All the programs opened previously are closed.

Have you encountered this problem? Can you help me?
Thank you very much!

Hmm… once this happens again issue (as root) “dmesg” and record the output and look toward the end for message that might have appeared at the time when the problem happened. Maybe you see a segmentation fault (and the process name causing it) or probably a “out of memory” situation.

I would also suggest to reboot and run Coreboot memtest to test the RAM for faults.

Cheers
nicole
