The first and simplest checks first: from sound settings, select the correct input device option (handset, stereo microphone, analog input) and that they are not muted and have volume? If you have some sound, then something works.
It appears that something is turning the input volume down to zero. When I turn it up and place a call everything works. I’m now working at figuring out just when the input sound gets turned down.
This did not happen before I upgraded. For now I will have to check the input level before every call.
As a sanity check, you might flash crimson onto a spare µSD card and boot from that. That will fault isolate whether this is a generic crimson problem or something specific to the setup that you have on your normal boot drive. If this is a generic crimson problem, you might flash byzantium onto another spare µSD card in order to confirm the regression. On the other hand, if the µSD card crimson works correctly, you have the basis of comparison to attempt to work out what has gone awry on your normal boot drive e.g. some setting.
