I just recieved my Librem5 and as I am trying to learn it. I am frustrated having to type a password twice constantly. Touchscreens do not register my swipes very well and I tend to tap the power button

The fact that you need to enter a password twice is related to this issue, I think:
Perhaps if we ask @guido.gunther nicely, it can get priority. 
After a while, I only had to enter the password for encryption when I restarted. Updating may have changed something. I would still like to replace the default password to unlock the phone with a null password, at least for now.
Not sure about the keyring issue. Does one have to enter a password after an idle state with a desktop system?
My Ubuntu system does.
