I was using my Librem 5 and I got a call that I answered, and I talked to the person on the call, and then I got onto an elevator and I didn’t pay attention to if the call was connected or not, because I was on the elevator. I turned off the mic HKS without bothering to figure out how to end the call, since I thought maybe sometimes the buttons don’t work since it’s Librem 5, and with the call quiet because of the HKS then I was able to chat with the other man in the elevator.
Then later I looked back at my phone, and the call UI was not able to close. It seemed like no matter what I did, that UI would not exit. I ended up plugging the phone into a dock and using a keyboard+monitor to drop to a terminal with CTRL+ALT+F2, and then killing all the processes I could find with call
or chatty
in the name. But for some reason, the “call” screen was still overlayed on the login screen.
Then I discovered that using the mouse, I could exit that call screen. This brought me to the standard unlock screen, and I was finally able to unlock the device and get back in.
Would this problem be fixed on Crimson? Does Crimson actually work? I was assuming that it probably did not, and so I have been sitting on Byzantium still. I think that based on the version of Crimson I downloaded back before the forums said we should try Crimson – which I then stopped using – the two biggest things for me were (1) no audio in Crimson, and (2) no camera in Crimson. Because the point of the handset is to be a computer with readily accessible IO, eliminating its IO functions reduces its usability.
So, I am on the Byzantium still, and then answering a call locks it up. Hopefully we can fix this!
Thanks.
