Plans for Gnome Cinnamon?

It looks like PureOs uses Gnome Unity. Any plans to support Gnome Cinnamon? I find the former unusable and the latter works great. The high dpi support should work just as well with Cinnamon as Unity (although I know the 4K displays aren’t an option any more any way). Thanks.

We think that atm Gnome3 works best with our devices. In future we might change that, but for now, you simply add additional sources and install any other DE you want.

Just plain Cinnamon without gnome code. My terminal in gnome right from the get go was somehow disabled? It would not open at all. Sorta, kinda, frustrating you know? I mean really, Linux + terminal = happy user right? Taking terminal away is like stealing candy from a kid. You don’t do that! Long story short I’m trying to set my desktop right to be an active participant for pureOS. I want to be part of this (volunteer, give feedback, ideas, maybe submit bugs, learn more about Linux thru pureOS, just let my inner geek manifest itself) this is special. Are belief’s are aligned.

Hi Nomad. We choose GNOME3 because we want to have an uniform look on all our devices, laptops and tablets. AFAIK, Cinnamon doesn’t have good touch interface (if at all), touch friendly plasma is not in best condition, etc. We are watching the development of desktop environments, but like I’ve said, for now we will stick with GNOME3.

Personally, I find plasma mobile concept very interesting (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auuQA0Q8qpM) but it could take years for this to become stable enough for daily use.

Thank you for responding quickly. Hmm? I have to figure out how to get my terminal working on gnome3. I really want to contribute to pureOS.

This is a known issue, you can try a few workoarounds:

let me know if it helped.

Ok. Thank you.
