a friend texted me some recordings he made of himself playing music idk if he has android or iphone. is there a program for librem 5 that can play this type of file?

Try VLC.
oh yea thatd probably work… how do i get that? there website seemed circular downloading took back to download page and command line prompt not working.
Download from the PureOS Software app, or with a terminal command (sudo apt install vlc).
If you prefer flatpaks, you can also get the VLC flatpak from the software app; just check the dropdown at the top of the VLC landing page (in the PureOS Software app) to choose which you want.)
Lollypop or MPV should work as well. (Almost any player in Linux, actually.)
EDIT: Hmm… I actually don’t see VLC in the software app anymore. So use the command in the terminal if you want VLC.

i didnt see it either the command line on their website didnt work. the flat pak command worked from here. https://thelinuxcode.com/install_vlc_debian/
