Protective cover for the Librem 5

Alcantara® mit Perforation + Mikrofaser Premium + Anhängerschlaufe, sure.

Answering after having bought the leather fitbag sleeve : fits perfectly and
I’m very happy with it so far. Doesn’t make the librem5 hotter and seems to be good quality (Made in Germany).
I would just have love that the sleeve had a hole where the notifification LED
is… would be so handy. Maybe I will try to punch the leather myself.

Which dimensions for Librem 5 sleeve you provided to them?

I didn’t provide any.
Maybe I was optimistic, I ordered this one : https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B08QZ691DL/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
which is sold for “Librem5”…

Has anybody had any experience with this glue and what it does to the L5’s back cover?
More in particular: does it come off easily?

I have ordered the BigBen, but I am still in some doubt as to whether the adhesive won’t stain or damage the back of the phone.
Otherwise, it looks like a really neat cover - especially because there is no hole in the back for the camera.

I ordered this BigBen Folio Wallet XL and it came to my hands today. The glued area is of around 2 x 1,5 inch, see picture and the L5 comes off easy, IMHO to easy. The back cover of the L5 is not damaged by it.

After a few hours the L5 is not fixed anymore in the case by the glue and you risk that it will fall out when open the case. I will return it and do not recommend its use (will add this in the Wiki too).

I’ve ordered the exact same case and I can confirm this.
Instead of sending it back I removed the sliding part of the mechanism (part with glue). In that sliding space (frame) I used Velcro (placed in different directions). At the back of my L5 I did the same. Now it sits very tight, but the L5 is still removable.
As work around it is OK, but a real cover designed for the L5 would be a better solution.

Thanks! What is Velcro? Could you please post some pictures. Thanks

Velcro is some special “tape”.
Klettband it is called in German (I believe).
I’m on vacation, but when back at home I will make some pics of my solution.

It generally refers to the hook-and-loop fastener:

I think the problem in parts is the surface of the L5’s back cover which is not as smooth as for example glass, or my laptop cover. I have some double-faced adhesive tape. I will test first if this sticks good on the L5’s back cover, then cut out a 2 x 1,5 inch rectangle and see if this sticks better on case slider.

The glue that’s used on Velcro strips (or Velcro dots, or Velcro squares) is generally very strong. It’s recommended to clean both surfaces with alcohol, let them fully dry, then apply the Velcro paired pieces (i.e. the hook side and loop side).

You may find that hook and loop strips sold in the sewing accessories section of stores have even stronger glue.

Unfortunately, high heat can loosen any glue. Fortunately, the back of the Librem 5 is not where most of the heat accumulates.

I first used the Velcro tape in combination with the slider (after removing the original sticking solution).
This works but it has a ‘wobling’ effect. The L5 on top of the slider in combination with the Velcro tape is too high and gave an unstable impression.
Therefore I did remove the sliding part and placed the Velcro inside the frame of it.

Now it fits better. The only compromise is that the L5 does not slide anymore, but therefore I used the Velcro.
I can easy detach the L5 from the case.

I must have had a clean L5 :innocent: since I did no cleaning at all. The Velcro is sticking like a rock. Even when using the L5 while it’s outside 33°C.

A water-cooled Librem 5!

I‘ve not returned it. I cut a piece of double sided tape in the size of the area where the mobile should be attached. Now it‘s good fixated, also firmly on the L5 backcover.
