PureOS won't install on new Lenovo P16 Gen 2

I am a long time supporter of everything Purism. My family, friends and I have purchased 9 Purism laptops since 2019, a Librem 5 and a Librem key. Although I have a Librem 14 in the house, my favorite computer has been the Librem 15 v 4. Unfortunately, my second Librem 15 v 4 died (fried motherboard). I looked online for a Librem 15 v4, either new or used, and found nothing. Although I like the Librem 14, I wanted something newer with a larger screen. I ventured off the reservation and ultimately purchased a new Lenovo P16 gen 2. When I tried to install PureOS, it would not even load the iso on the usb stick. I tried my tails usb as well a usb with Ubuntu and Parrot OS and they all worked fined. When I contacted Lenovo for guidance I received this response:

Especially if bootable liveUSB is a few weeks old, download and build a new one today. Or try booting liveUSB with secure boot toggled off. You are booting with uefi only media configuration? Legacy and CSM and clicking to install MBR onto bootable media will prevent booting on newer Lenovo models. The old dual booting mode media, legacy and uefi won’t boot on newest Lenovo.

I am not sure what to do. I have installed PureOS on multiple computers including Dell and System 76, but my Lenovo won’t boot the iso. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Your laptop is:

  1. Too new to be supported by obsolete PureOS kernel.

  2. Requires plenty of non-free/proprietary blobs which arent shipped in PureOS (requirement for FSF certification).

You will be unable to run PureOS Byzantium on that laptop, better use Debian at this point. Give up on the idea.

Your choice.

Product link or at least CPU details and other hardware details?

As the earlier reply said, you will have to check as to what the first Linux kernel version is that supports that CPU

and

that could be a problem too

and

yeah, if you overcome the above two items so that you can actually boot then the WiFi won’t work either (although that can be worked around).

You have some fine hardware but it is not well suited to PureOS.
