Hopefully someone can help with what is happening with my Purism L14 laptop.
I recently did a clean install of QUBES 4.3. It all seemed to go ok. Reinistalled my old app vms etc. Used it a few times, all good.
Yesterday I went to start it and it returned a problem that it couldn’t boot because there was no default OS. It then entered a recovery shell which transports me personally into a world I know nothing of. But I persevered.
I was able to get it to boot via unsafe boot in the options at startup. That started things ok which at least reassured me that things were still intact. At this point I couldn’t connect to the TOR network because the clock was wrong. It may have been wrong from my fresh install of QUBES for all I know as it was only the inability to connect to TOR that alerted me and I don’t use TOR at all really. So, I changed the clock to the correct time (a chore in itself).
But when I closed it down and attempted restart…back to square one. Into the recovery shell.
So I did some research and reset things to OEM/default which generated new key etc on my librem key. This seemed to do the job. It restarted successfully three or four times. The time was ok etc.
That was yesterday. Today, I go to start it up and its back to not finding the default OS as before etc but I have recovered it as per what I outline above. Its sits there now, working but smirking at me.
I was going to reinstall QUBES again, which is a bit of a chore but doable. Its something that I’d like to avoid if there is an obvious reason why this happening. I have done a lot searching with not much luck…although AI solved the clock issue quickly.
Does anyone have a suggestion, clue as to what may be happening?
