Went to the Purism Store for the first time in a long time. Pleased to see a lot more stuff there. Displeased that the two things I want to buy now (L5 back cover, USB-C Hub) are Out of Stock. 
Anyone know how long these have been out of stock or when new stock is expected?

While Support can be backed up, you might try sales - since this is an opportunity (presumably) for Purism to derive some revenue and it might be more responsive.
I’m not actually seeing the USB-C Hub as being out of stock (or the back cover for that matter). It let me add both to my Cart. Where are you seeing that?
That’s just my luck… I refreshed the Accessories page and they magically were back in stock. I had checked it several times over the last week, including last night before posting, but no picture, it didn’t happen. 
Say WHAT? 3x the cost of the item to ship?? From California to California??? It couldn’t weigh more than a few grams!

However you might be able to ‘prove’ that the hub was previously out of stock if someone else has recently previously mentioned it in this forum.
You are not the first person to comment on that. See other topics for discussion I guess.
Presumably you can improve the economy (a little bit!) if you order both the hub and the back cover together.
If you want to query the shipping fee, I think you really do need to make contact with Purism.

Purism charged me nothing to ship my L5 and only $5.99 to ship my SparkLAN card (I’m pretty sure it weighs more than the back cover).
There is some suggestion that the Purism Shop page simply can’t calculate the shipping correctly for e.g. accessory items.

I really think that you can’t avoid contacting Purism directly in order to get clarity around actual shipping cost.
Contacted them twice in five days. Got instant bot responses saying they would address in one business day.

You can order a backplate from a 3d print site online, although it costs slightly more it will be indestructible if it is made of the right stuff, and you can probably buy a usb-c hub at a nearby corner store. Is it worth going third party instead of to purism for these?
I printed a case for my L5, but I’d rather give Purism the business for those things they produce. I just wish they didn’t make it so hard sometimes.
