[Question] How indestructable is it?

Basic Information

Question: How rugged is the Librem 5?

More Information

Longer Description: I use the heck out of my phone and probably the only reason it still works is because of the Otterbox Defend Series. Obviously, I don’t use it as a riot shield but I have definitely got my money worth.

I have had plenty of instances of stuff falling out of a jeep or even being slammed against tile.

The Issue: I think the proposed thickness of the Librem 5 seems really nice.
However, I feel like it might be too thick if I also need to add my super-tough case.

Note: I am not yet a Librem 5 backup.

I understand your point. From what I’ve seen, it seems like the Librem5 without case is already as bulky as a Pixel 3 in an Otterbox Defender case. However, I doubt much can be said about the L5’s ruggedness without conducting proper tests…

Sorry, I had to … :upside_down_face:

I think 5 of 6 sides will prove as rather sturdy (don’t want to go as far as call it indestructible).
The screen should be better protected than on some of the stupid thin bezel phones, but of course is the most likely part to break.
Luckily should not be to hard to replace according to the tear down video.

While the process to replace may not be hard, how hard will it be to get the replacement screen part(s)?

I would definitely like to see some form of Fairphone like set-up here.

iFixit should test the Librem 5:
