Questions on new Librem5 phone from a non-techy

Hi,

I have a few questions with the new Librem5 phone being built. Seems an attractive alternative for an increasingly tracked environment.

Will the Librem5 be easy to use by people like myself, who are not programmers?
Will i be able to backup to a non-Linux system? (MacOS, Windows)
What’s with encrypted IP calls when you call someone on a regular smartphone? , will it work only if there’s another Librem5 on the other end of the line? Would both ends need to have the same app installed to do this (i.e. Signal?)

I’m not team member but I think I can help you.

If you are able to use any other GNU/Linux system you could use the Librem5 because is basically the same thing, in fact it will probably easiest for a common phone use.

Theoretically you can do whatever you want with the Librem5 because use an open concept, but probably Purism will not expend resources to reach this.

That’s software related, if the other device use an app that is able to receive encrypted IP calls it will work.
