I have the USB C to C cable that I believe came with the phone, but I don’t have a USB C port on my laptop. For reflashing purposes or in this case, updating the firmware I have to do the take the battery out while holding up thing, and I actually don’t own a high compacity USB A to C cable. Any recommendations on one that will work?
I don’t think it’s that big a deal. I just use a USB-C to USB-A cable that came with a portable USB-C SSD that I have - and that worked. I also have a USB-A M to USB-C F adapter (small and cheap, UGREEN) and that works too. Like you, I don’t have a USB-C port on the host computer, so I have always had to do one or the other of the above, and I have never had a problem.
That why convenience stores have them, for folks that lose their cables (worst case, when they left it at home during commute and are loathe to turn around and get it). (Oh so expensive too, so I go down the street to the Dollar Tree.)
