Replace Android

I used to be a sysadmin, so if you could point me to instructions I’d like to hear about what it would take or if you could summarize what you think is need it’s much appreciated

Developer experience and a ton of time and patience.

See paragraph 2 of my previous post.

Note that Pureboot itself, at the current time, is x86. (So there is no Pureboot for the Librem 5.)

Their FAQ contains

Can you install Linux on the DC-1?

Yes! This is possible, and in fact there’s a dedicated Discord channel called Daylight Wiki, where you can get details on this and much more!

That might be your starting point if you want this device but you want to expunge Google / Android.

Even so, if you care about these things, you would need to look closely to see whether there are any blackbox drivers and/or any firmware blobs required - and, if so, decide whether it is acceptable to you.

Someone mentioned using Plasma Mobile as an alternative to Android on an Android phone. This is not directly possible. Plasma Mobile is an environment or shell, like KDE or Gnome. You can not uninstall Android from a phone and replace Android with just Gnome or just KDE or just Plasma Mobile. You have to install an operating system on to the phone first. Then the Plasma Mobile environment gets installed in to that operating system. Plasma Mobile is very compatable with KDE programs. I removed PureOS from my Librem 5 and installed a mobile distribution of Linux called PostmarketOS. Then I installed Plasma Mobile in to PostmarketOS. PostmarketOS running Plasma Mobile is a nice OS. I like it better than PureOS. But it’s still Linux.
