Shipping times for in stock items

What’s the current experience (all posts I found were 6-9 years old)?

If it’s out of stock, you wait forever and ever an it’ll be longer than you want.

If it’s in stock, then about 1-2 weeks tops (usually) and Purism emails you that it shipped. This means their human people put it into the mail, not that it’s at your door. Then it takes however long to go from Purism on the map to your door, which for me was another 1-2 weeks.

EDIT:
Maybe my 1-2 weeks “tops” is optimistic though, as it seems that Purism always operates at a very human, slow kind of pace with respect to orders and shipping. Maybe I’m just remembering 1 order that was processed that fast.

In my experience the time it takes them to process the order also varies based on what extras you include. For example I ordered Liberty Phone multiple times in case Purism goes out of business so I would have a fleet of these that I could swap parts between and maintain. One of them shipped out almost instantly but a different one I picked to have the USB-C dock dongle along with it to give Purism some extra money, and then I think that one was longer before it shipped (maybe a month or two?) possibly because of added time of the Purism humans going and getting a dongle, although I am speculating. But that one also might’ve been out of stock, I forget.

EDIT 2:
I have never tried being the guy that tells Purism “ship faster!!” and instead just accepted it for what it is. There are some stories of people on the forums getting in contact with Purism support and demanding that they ship faster and it always seemed to lead to a lot of upsetness. I personally think it is unlikely that contacting Purism in that way will increase the rate at which they ship a product, but admittedly I never tried.

I have sometimes asked Purism support for ETAs for shipping, and they are responsive but sometimes would give slightly optimistic estimates. I ordered an out-of-stock dock in 2023 or so and they ended up shipping it to me last month, but they said that they should’ve been able to do it sooner and forgot my order humanly it sounded like until I checked in. Last fall I asked for ETA and I think they said January or February even though in reality it shipped in March. So when it says out of stock, it is always a very slow process. In stock is much better.
