Snap and Flatpak packages!

Zorin OS 15 is going to support Snap and Flatpak Packages, therefore applications can be sanboxed in GUI fashion. Does PureOS support this, if not how do I manually install this for PureOS?

PureOS supports Flatpak out of the box. Many of the programs youā€™ll find in the Software repository are available as Flatpaks.

Iā€™m not sure about Snap

Both ā€˜snapā€™ (the client) and ā€˜snapdā€™ (the daemon) are available from the PureOS repositories. You can get snaps from the Canonical run ā€œSnap Storeā€; ā€œSnaps are discoverable and installable from the Snap Store, an app storeā€.

Please note that Purism does not plan to create any snaps at this time and the official location of snaps is limited to Canonical controlled servers. The Purism preference is to use a combination of Debian packages and flatpak to create containerized applications which are very like snaps but are also free software and curated to the standards of PureOS.

In short, you can run flatpaks, snaps, Docker apps, and all sorts of containerized applications.
