It’s a big one, containing the long awaited ability to talk to Xwayland applications. But this is not the only improvement that you will notice. If you’re using Squeekboard on a tablet, the sizing will be improved, thanks to Arnaud Ferraris. Benjamin Schaaf took care of the empty areas on the sides, and now when you don’t quite hit e.g. “a”, it will still register.
As usual, we got new layouts: Belgian, French, Friulian, and Ukrainian. On top of that, the usual set of bug fixes and internal cleanups.
I looked at es-ES.txt and ru-RU.txt so I thought this file should list the localized names of languages.
If this is the case, there’s only one typo error for spanish (Spagnûl) which I’ll fix soon, the others are correctly localized for my language. Thank you for addressing me there.
Oh, right. There’s now also a way to open input method settings. Click the globe and then “settings”. Then you add new input languages to your system, and they will show up in Squeekboard. Choose one by clicking the globe button, they will all be on the list.
I started that before discovering that gnome-desktop already offers translations for layout names. Now it’s only a fallback in case gnome-desktop doesn’t know the translation, which is rather rare (but I never checked how rare).
Other than the above, no. But that should change now that we have the settings option which always needs a translation. Haven’t decided on any particular system for that yet.
