Streamtuner2 on the Librem 5

I’ve been using streamtuner2 internet music application on desktop, so I thought I would give it a try on the Librem 5… and it works reasonably well on the small screen, despite its somewhat complex UI. Landscape mode is more navigable, but I’ve included some portrait mode captures just to show more settings in single screenshots below.

It’s available in the PureOS software app as a PureOS native application, or via sudo apt install streamtuner2 from the terminal.

Upon launch you’re given the options to set the audio and video apps you want to use as default for playing streams, as well as other settings. The pages don’t quite fit, but they’re still usable:

Set the streaming services you like:

Off-sreen except in landscape mode, the Features tab:

Select a streaming service, then a category.
Example 1:

Example 2:

Example 3:

The margins of the columns above - Category, Genre, Station Title, Now Playing, etc. - can be dragged right or left to expand/collapse, and the rows can be scrolled up and down.

Landscape mode without forcing adaptive display:

Various channel settings, including saved Bookmarks:

You can add a bookmark for a currently playing stream from the Station menu at top left:

And finally, adaptive landscape mode courtesy of the phosh Mobile Settings app compositor:

Once you select a station, the player application you’ve set as default will launch, e.g. VLC, or other.

It’s possible to copy the streaming address from the player application into another application, also, for instance to Shortwave, Goodvibes, and such. [EDIT: You can copy stream links into streamtuner2 as well.]

So, quite useful for discovering music, I think, and one of the most comprehensive internet streaming applications I’ve used.

You might want to install it on desktop first, or use it convergently from the Librem 5, just to get familiar with it on a larger screen.
