Taking Pic Goes Back to Desktop

When I open Camera (Dev), check camera is on, click the take-the-picture button (no name) the screen blinks and returns to the desktop.

  • This can be repeated.
  • It is not taking the picture, and if it is, doesn’t store it on this L5.
  • This can be repeated.
  • Total reboot - no change.

I really do not what a ‘return-to-menu’ button instead of picture taking.

How do I reset the button so it takes pictures like it should do?

Right at Christmas - when pictures matter. 0/10 on reliability scale.

I get the same thing. (Note that I’ve already upgraded from Byzantium to Crimson (which has not been officially released yet, so it’s not unusual that I may encounter some buggy behavior).

I ran millipixels (the name of the camera package) in the terminal to check the errors. Here’s what I got:

The rest is alienspeak to me. I now have a new error,

Low Disk Space on "Filesystem root"

Perhaps it is the reason for the “Camera (Dev)” just being a back-to-desktop button now.
What ever - I’ll learn about what not to delete in case it’s part of a program - app. I gather the dependants are similar to Windows .DLL files.

Hope you’re having a very Happy and Merry Christmas Season,
~s

If this is the problem, and it very well could be, try using some of the tips in this epistle: Low disk space - how to clean out garbage?

I’ll see if there is a way to hook the device up to my *new desktop so I can go through it faster and delete move pics and vids to the extra space (64g SD).

Off to read those novels links to more novels. Hopefully, one day, the L5 will use a GUI Device Explorer - like Windows Explorer. I’d attach a screen shot, but can’t do that any more.

I saw the same error but after ensuring my Librem 5 was updated and restarting it seems to have made the issue go away.

Fixed for me now, too, after the latest updates.

And now the issue has returned. Fails to launch. :man_shrugging:

Are you using camera hks daily?

I confirm this issue. I’m on Crimson. Sometimes Millipixels starts fine, sometimes not. I could not find a pattern.

I see this in the logs:

I created an issue for this:

After restarting the Librem 5 Millipixels worked again for me.

For info: I’m running Crimson.

No, I almost never use the HKS.

On my Linux Mint desktop, I use Files (Nautilus?) to make a network connection to the L5 using SSH and the L5 IP address. Easiest way I’ve found to clean house after vacuuming logs and other suggestions from that thread. I just delete the junk and move the keepers to my desktop.
