I tried to install that GNU Taler program, the CLI version, but to no avail because the version of dependencies isn’t as good enough. The error report says something about the current version being 1.12+, while the Taler configuration requires 1.18+. PureOS repository needs to test the new versions of node.js and jq dependencies.
I be honest about node.js, its an environment that uses JavaScript, a potentially unsafe scripting language. How does one know if its language is vetted enough for free and safe code/library? I doubt anyone knows. Same goes for jq. Then again, I am a newbie on Taler so I wouldn’t really know what I am doing just yet. I was about to download the new version from the source for compilation, but I am not sure if it is GNU/Linux, PureOS, or Flatpak/Flathub compatible enough to meet non-proprietary standard(s).
I guess I could volunteer to test out the new versions of the node.js and jq dependencies. It’s just that I don’t have a test machine up and running yet.
