Since some days the area in the app PureOS store
where before have been circling hints for apps is now empty and only shows the right and left arrow.
I already did apt update
and apt upgrade
Any ideas?

Could it be a locale issue?
It could be everything, even a network issue. After a reboot it’s fine again.
Just wait a few day for fix this issue, a new Pure Store version it coming up.
Also a new kernel version come with big improvement for camera and some power saving.
The actual app PureOS store
for me already offered two times some global Gnome update of 300++ Megabytes and when I click install
it fails to do so.
Best to update via the command line so that you can see more readily what is going wrong.
That’s clear, but sudo apt update
does not download anything.
sudo apt update
won’t upgrade any packages but it should download, if necessary, to get the latest package metadata for everything listed in e.g. /etc/apt/sources.list
You should be getting output from that command even if it does not download anything because your package metadata is up to date.
After ensuring that you have current package metadata, it will then tell you whether you need to upgrade any packages i.e. compares the version of what is installed with the version that is available.

Use 'apt autoremove' to remove them.

Your posted session log looks fine to me.
So sudo apt autoremove
and you should be all done.
I never remove such pkg because I’m afraid that it will break something else.
I have a similar problem (?) With the PureOS store on my Librem 5. It is showing the different categories with hints, but clicking onto one of them opens a new page. But there are no apps in “Editor’s Choice” or in “New & Updated”, only in “Other Software”. This is maybe because there are just a few apps optimized for the L5? Sorry totally new to the L5, to PureOS as well as new to anykind of Linux. My intension is to use the L5 also as a light version of a desktop/laptop, so therefor I am looking for more apps that could be used in combination with the convergence to a seperate display. Would be happy for any hints or explanation.
Edit: regarding existing apps for L5/PureOS I found some information here: https://source.puri.sm/Librem5/community-wiki/-/wikis/Frequently-Asked-Questions#31-what-apps-will-be-available-for-the-librem-5
