So not is it only aware of the “domain” it is also aware of the “local part” plus an “@” (RFC 2822) ?

I thought the same thing. For a lot of technical people, the expression “domain awareness system” is confusing. However that appears to be the actual expression being used by the NYPD. So we have to suck it up.

It’s kind of indicative though of the banal and misleading expressions that are often used to describe and downplay creepy projects.

Needless to say that the subhead of “warning for every American” understates the scope of the problem. It is a problem throughout the world, in democracies, in failing democracies, and in already authoritarian states.

For completeness, RFC 2822 is superseded by RFC 5322. :slight_smile:

Im using from Sweden Mullvad VPN , Gufw firewall. they will always be able to know your IPS but thats all not any other information is available. plus i have encrypted my SSD. I wont even use my librem mini 2 for email. Im looking at going to Sweden for email too “Proton mail”.. Im in new york state but it shows im in new york city or any other choice I make world wide with Mullvad

This isn’t really about surveillance in the cyber world. It’s about surveillance in the real world but using lots of technology to support that. e.g. Background: Domain Awareness System - Wikipedia So VPN or end-to-end encrypted mail really doesn’t do much for you.

The mind boggles as to what this could become if combined with cyber surveillance e.g. most notably tracking your connection with a mobile tower.

email in Sweden their laws the government will not supena or get any Coroporation from Swedan.. its been tried and failed….that is why they can not get any infor about bank accounts from our government criminals.
