I bought on May 11 a new L5 for $599. This price is not shown anymore, also not the $999, only the L5 for $699. So I was lucky and ordered before the price change.

Yes, there was a flash sale at $599 (maybe a few days only - so you were lucky) and it seems a “permanent” price reduction to $699.

I bought two L5 in October 2017 and one in May 2024, and always for $599. The one for $999 (now at $699) is this the same model as always the others?
Yes it is, although there may have been minor board revisions between them, among other hardware.
