I don’t think this has been covered before: any ideas, is there already an app (with GUI) to do this or a method to do via command promt, to time a reset/cleanup of caches, memory etc. Is there something more comprehensive that Bleachbit on L5 (what would it miss) and would it be safe to have it run every now and then? Any ideas on best ways to set something like this up?
I think you need to explain in more detail what you want to wipe.
“cache” can mean a lot of things e.g. memory caches between CPU cores and main memory, some per-CPU and some shared between CPUs or e.g. browser cache.
And in respect of anything on disk, are you implying shred-like functionality?
What do you want that is not achieved by powering off the phone and then powering it on again?
(I tend to set my browser to clear cache on exit regardless. Hence shutting down will clear the browser cache.)
I’m not quite sure yet what to include in this. All those mentioned would be good, but also browser caches etc. in shred like fashion. At this point I’m just pondering what would be a good combo, or what would be available.
Having it timed would do it without the powering down - as it wouldn’t come back due to LUKS password prompt. Having it timed, could allow to check places that don’t have “cleat on exit”.
