French looters steal iPhones — Apple sends them a nasty surprise
Looters who raided an Apple Store in Lille during France’s latest unrest discovered their shiny new trophies were practically useless, the New York Post reported.
Stolen iPhones reportedly lit up with a blunt warning:
“Please return the device to Apple Lille. This device has been disabled and is being tracked. Local authorities will be alerted.”
So after smashing their way into the store, the looters walked away with expensive tracking devices that immediately told police where they were.
The wider unrest saw luxury stores including Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Dior targeted, with around 1,800 arrests and more than 500 police officers injured.
