In byzantium repo there’s gnome and gnome-oem. Is oem version specially crafted for purism hardware? What is different in it?
OEM images are designed to ship with the laptops from the factory. Basically the Operating system is already installed with the disk already encrypted, but there is no user account created. And during the first boot you change the disk encryption passphrase and create your user account.
It provides an experience similar to other laptop vendors. Booting up the laptop for the first time, setting up the account and then being: good to go.
The Live image is basically what people are used to from Linux Live USB’s.
But after installed, both images are the same. So if you want to download an image to just reinstall the operating system, the live image has less steps to do so.
