Where to see on-going development status for future Purism products?

I think as a community based company, they may show their working like some other developers, but I cannot find it anywhere.
For example, the Librem server jumped out from nowhere, I’m so happy to see that, while wondering what can we expect for the near future.

For software projects, we’re quite open about what we do and what we’re planning, just check out https://source.puri.sm/

In the Librem5 group of projects, we often indicate our future plans as issues: https://source.puri.sm/groups/Librem5/-/issues or merge requests.

Hi @hihob82159 community is very important to us and we do a lot of our product development in the open e.g the Lbrem 5 dev kits and early batches. But we can’t always share in-development products (new or successors) for a number of reasons:

  • We may need to maintain a competitive advantage
  • We don’t have fixed release dates and we don’t want people to feel they have to wait indefinitely for the next iteration
  • we want to share products that have a high chance of being released

I hope that helps answer your question.

That’s reportedly because the hardware already existed unofficially for some years and it is only the product that was created instantly. Refer: Announcing Librem Server

I would hope also that (for any company) it is also a two way street. If lots of people say “I would (definitely) buy this if it were available” then that could influence product development.

We do have this FAQ entry with a list of our plans for the future:

Needs an update though to move “Librem servers” from future to current.

Yes it does. We are on it

I was hoping to see a tablet, a Libtab? Tablib? (No, back to Libtab.)

I am also interested. What happened to the 11"?

It’s on hold at the moment

Did you click on the link? It says a tablet is “on the roadmap”, although that isn’t very specific.

If it comes to holding breath, I think the pinetab will be in production earlier. It would be a gift anyway and not for me.
