I am in town and all of a sudden it cannot find the network signal which is always great in town. Network type unknown, signal strength 78% carrier T-mobile. Before this the audio wasn’t heard on calls for the other person idk if that’s related but now it can’t connect to network.
I’ve turned phone off and on many times. messed with the kill switch. Interestingly enough when turning kill switch back from disabled, the mobile data and data roaming are off and I have to manually turn them back on again which is new. When troubleshooting the other phone call issue I checked if there was an update which there was. and installed it. This was over an hour ago and this problem didn’t happen right after that but idk if its related.
Don’t know what to do. I had a 3 month plan on mint and got a notice recently that im in my last month. So i doubt the service ran out, but couldn’t log into account anyway as wouldn’t receive the 2fa text atm.
got a screen shot of it actually finding t mobile netork but it still couldnt connect and lost it soon after.
I am experiencing the same thing on my Librem 5 with T-Mobile. All of a sudden at around 2pm PST I lost mobile data. My spouse has an iPhone and mobile data is working just fine on it, even when forced to drop on 4G LTE.
Is it possible T-Mobile is starting to crack down on devices not from big tech?
Update: I have a backup phone that I keep off and in a drawer most of the time and bring out for the few times something only works with android or iphone. I put my SIM card into that phone and it also does not receive any network service. It recognizes the SIM as it shows my number and plan, but no service.
I too had Mint Mobile drop about 7 hours ago. The L5 then said it connected to Verizon, which I didn’t think was possible, but it would not make or receive calls until Mint came back.
I think we should all know by now T-Mobile had a global outage last night but not all services were affected. There may still be local outages.
My T-Mobile symptoms were that my router couldn’t make a connection but my cell phone was fine. So I turned my mobile hotspot “on” and made it through the night. Router came back up later this morning.
Before my router woke up and I have a business account, I made a call to T-Mobile just to check if the outage was still happening. I got 20 bucks rebate for this month. I also got percentage “loyalty discount” (another 30 bucks a month off).
Addendum: One reason I have a business account is that it was only 30 bucks more than a regular account. I also get a static IP and they answer the phone quicker when I call.
Text and data are working for me again. I’m still having an issue that I don’t know if its related or not but I had the issue about an hour or two before the service cut out. When making calls the other person can’t hear me. Ive tried two different people. Leaving a voice mail also nothing. I can here them but its super quiet, idk if that’s the phone or the servicec.
My first modem was a Texas Instruments chipset 300 baud acoustic coupled job I made myself with a speaker and a mic inside two yogurt cups. I could read faster than the ASCII text scrolling on my screen from the BBS I connected to. I now work for a telco and literally every other service we offer could go down but if internet dies for some reason, it’s literally the apocalypse. Nobody reads books anymore I guess.
