Which manufacturer and which model hides behind this generic description and does it also cover previous cellphone standards , aka 1 & 2 G?

Hi @ilo,

Based on the article Introducing Calls on the Librem 5, I believe we can reasonably exepect a SIM7100E on the development board.

The demo above is using a SIM7100E modem from SIMCom which you may be able to see mounted on the prototype board, with the red top border, to the bottom right of the display. Like many cellular modems, this modem supports both AT commands and QMI.
