I bought my Librem-5 seven years ago …. and I still waiting for delivery !
I had no problem with waiting for such an ambitious product, I liked the idea and the specs. Now it makes no sense from a hardware standpoint anymore, because tech is developing fast and there other options available. So I will ask Purism if they have a solution or refund my money.
They are all delivered in summer 2023. You could have followed how people receive it. I myself also bought in 2019 and was forgotten, but I followed the delivery-list in forum (we users created) and wrote to support, got my device just a week later in my hands. There where also people who got a delivery email where people had to confirm the delivery address is still up to date, but whoever not answered, did not get a device.
You still can ask Purism via email to get hands on your Librem 5 and in 1-2 weeks you should have it. Otherwise write a mail to get refunds. But you will loose some percentages of your paid money this way.
In terms of power the hardware was even 2019 outdated. But in terms of usability it is still strong enough to run Debian Trixie (or better Mobian and “soon” PureOS Dawn). Software wise you can run the most up to date software on it and L5 is still good enough and still the only device that runs in such an open hardware stage. But sure, there are also newer Linux phone projects with better hardware (and less openness), but you have to decide for your own what values more to you.
Most likely the delivery confirmation email was sent to you but something went wrong in that process e.g.
blocked by recipient organisation (notorious problem with some freemail providers)
filed as spam in your mail client
bounced because email address changed
You will have to contact Purism Support but bear in mind that if there are endemic email problems between Purism and you that led to this problem in the first place, that might spill over into any communication in respect of Support. (If that occurs e.g. no response from Support after 1 week, post back here.)
Of course only you know what type of email address you used at the time of the original order and whether that email address is still current.
Yeah I ordered a Librem 5 in 2019 and it shipped in 2023 for me too. Then I liked it so much I bought another one in 2023 and it shipped to me in a couple of weeks.
You’ve missed something, need to contact Purism as others have said!

I remember reading somewhere in this forum that the planned usability for L5 hardware was 10 years. So L5 is the first version and would be the only version until the end of the decade. So If I dont have alot of disposible money at the moment then it would be wise to just wait until hopefully the next version that the company releases would be with more updated hardware Pureos would be easier to use. Right now i installed Pureos on two old Dell pcs and I haven’t have an issue, everything i need to do on a computer just require a mullvad browser and signal. I am going to try to buy the miniPC just to support the company when the new version its available to the public.
Mobian has two versions, the stable Trixie and the testing Forky, which also runs just fine on Librem 5. Purism choose the CPU, because it is produced until 2033. So theoretically the hardware is supported until you cannot buy replacement components any longer. I don’t expect Debian become that bloated that software side becomes an issue. 2035 shouldn’t be an issue in my opinion. And if we look at upcoming GLES3 and GTK4 support, it could improve the performance even a bit. A user is also using 5G modem … I think more than 10 years of total support is very likely.
The phone uses a SoC that was freshly put on market in late 2018 and several of its components are pretty much state-of-the-2019-art, so I’m not sure how can you reach that conclusion.
Great, have a nice time with it. If you have questions or issues, please ask some time earlier in this forum and don’t wait another year. Depending on the question we have probably good answers.
