As Wired appears to be behind a paywall, here’s another article about that particular exploit, DarkSword, Update Your iPhone Now: New 'DarkSword' Hack Targets Older iOS 18 Versions

And if anyone has reason to believe that they are likely to be targeted and, at least for now, unable to upgrade … Lockdown Mode is hiding in Settings / Privacy & Security, scroll all the way to the bottom (at least for me).
