Just wondering if there are any plans or progress to offer the service in Canada?

Years ago, that was the plan, but I doubt it will ever happen due to the lack of MVNO support in Canada.

Another angle would be roaming. I have a feeling (disclaimers apply) that with the original US-based provider, calls would have worked in Canada via roaming. However the Purism web site appears to have been updated to rule that out, and that could be a consequence of changing providers.
