Nah, that was crimson. Byz has worked fine. I changed back to byzantium almost immediately after testing (it only takes half an hour or less to write a disc image and switch between them). I had a working byz (only had to use pavucontrol for apps to have sound), but now it’s different as there are no input or output devices and I can’t figure out how that happened. I may have to revert to an earlier state image I have from a few weeks back and re-do the backports upgrade.
phosh 0.45
is already here! (without updated portal yet)
I also include this merge request to speed-up icons loading.
Question: On phosh.mobi it says that calls
version 48~beta.1
is required but it is not present in the backports. Why is that? or do you know?
I’m surprised that you follow to the backports content so carefully!
You are right, I say nothing about gnome-calls
because it is absent in the debian repo yet. Please report here if you have some issues with making or receiving calls…
So I am running your backports on a plain image, and after the recent upgrades it won’t reboot.
/etc/crypttab
is empty, so I don’t know what to do. Any ideas?
Edit: I can ssh
in, but I don’t know what to do to fix it.
So, it looks like phosh can not start after upgrade… Could you look inside journalctl
and find for some error messages related to phosh? May be some additional package not installed as in was with kdb
.
Here are the last couple days

So I went and used systemctl start phosh.service
and it started working
SInce it hasn’t been mentioned anywhere else, a note that the phosh 0.45 has brought also Mobile Settings app update that has Top Bar (top slide) editing options. You get to select some settings that are available there for quick access. Also other things that seem new: Feedback → Screen wakeup urgency level; On screen keyboard has height adjustments for portrait and landscape etc. Sometimes it’s the little things that make life easier.
I have this weird issue where some of the desktop shortcuts turn invisible in the app drawer. Does anyone else have this problem?
Only one shortcut icon is invisible (a light square in it’s place) for me and it’s Flathub as web-app - maybe because it didn’t have any icon defined. I’m not sure if that’s the same as your problem as it’s been like that from before backports?
Could you specify what exactly shortcuts are invisible? I have similar issue but I believe all of them must be fixed in the latest version of libicon-cache
.
xdg-desktop-portal-phosh 0.45
is here!
Be careful, some gtk/gnome apps could segfault it startup (like gnome-console that I already upgraded). Let me know if you find such app.
It was just a section in the drawer, I’m not sure which specific apps were causing it.
I actually managed to get rid of them by removing unused entries from my ~/.local/share/applications
folder and fixing the icon locations
The first “bad” icon in order can prevent the next one for drawing… Please let me know if you observe such behavior again, so that I could send a bug report to the author.
I think the problem came from stuff that I had done that didn’t work with locations changing in the updates
I tried this backports again today and got the old time problem again. The tracker-miner-fs dependency again.
I tried a couple times, the only time that I the backports this time is I removed the tracker package. But after apply the backports, the networking stops working even though I connected to the wifi
You have Phosh and Phoc 0.45 @Byzantium, right? Can someone test another resolution than 100% or 200% and look if you get such artifacts if you for example overscroll the settings app?
To see it better you should choose a background image in a high contrast color to your app. If you have a dark background image plus dark theme, you may don’t see such issues well. On screenshot it’s Mobian and I want to know if you also have this on PureOS.
Yeah I got that on 175%
Thanks for looking.
