I use Chatty everyday for Matrix. The features I miss most is being able to view pictures and see reactions (emojis attached to individual messages that prevent people from messaging just an emoji). If my correspondent uses any of those, I have to switch to hydrogen.element.io. (Hydrogen in Firefox in its turn does not allow me the full array of emojis by pressing Ctrl+; and I need those, because some people are really sensitive about what exact emoji you use and where )
Stock Chatty on the Librem 5 is currently at version 0.7.3. GNOME Chats is at 0.8.6. (That version mentions attachments explicitly, so maybe it allows saving images?) In the past, I noticed updates to Chatty occasionally becoming available on the L5.
Do we have to wait for Crimson for Chatty to be updated or can we expect a backport (is what I suppose you’d call it)? If I’m not alone in desiring these features, can we crowdfund these features somehow?
