So I’ve tried putting theme files in the /home/purism/.theme directory and also tried putting them in /usr/share/themes…I cannot get the themes to show up in the tweak tool…it’s weird.
I think I installed the extra themes via the command line, as *.deb files, not by copying them.
(I checked. I did install them as debs - with dpkg.)
oh ok…I’ll have to try that. Did you have to set up any repositories?
are u using gnome tweak tool? (just making sure since there r few)
Are these debs on gnome-look.org? All I seem to see are instructions to expand the files into those theme directories, nothing about installing debs.
EDIT: I’m completely lost on how to do this. Can someone explain it to me like I’m a fifth grader? Am I supposed to use the OCS install tool?
What I did was sudo apt search "theme"
Then sudo apt install "theme"
(Replace “theme” with package name)
Search using names from
Oh he made it sound like he was downloading a deb package from somewhere then using dpkg to install.
He probably was but I just did it this way.
Not having any luck finding any of the themes I like this way. Argh…
Which themes are you trying to install
W9-Dark and Nordic…they both just say to expand files in the themes directory but that never works.
I did download the *.deb first, and then installed it with dpkg. But that is surely not the only way to do things.
I got the adwaita dark theme that is configurable with Gradience from github:
https://github.com/emacsmirror/adwaita-dark-theme.
You’ve probably seen this, but themes galore here:
https://www.gnome-look.org/browse?cat=135&page=42&ord=latest
(Edit: oh, yes, you did see this.)
Or you can download the file and copy gtk-3.0
into
file:///home/purism/.config/gtk-3.0
Does that make it show up in the tweaks app?
Sorry, no.
I know how to install a deb but where are you getting the deb from on gnome-look or is it just certain themes that are deb files?
adwaita-dark is already installed on the phones tho.
