Gnome Contacts Calling

Huh, that’s weird.

Can you show me an example contact?

Want to try reflashing with a new Byzantium image to see if your issue disappears?

Not really.

Okay, perhaps your Librem 5 requires a modem firmware update. You can contact Purism support for instructions, as I am unable to publicly distribute them.

You can check your current firmware version using bm818-tools.

I already have. It was when it updated to 43.beta that it changed.

What does your top bar look like?

Looks identical to me.

Interesting

How about a distribution check?

lsb_release -a

Otherwise, I doubt there is any difference between our situations here, other than how recent our PureOS images are.

Nothing seems out of the ordinary here, so let me know if you have any better ideas - I will be reflashing my Librem 5 USA in the meantime.

What does your output from apt list gnome-contacts look like?

purism@pureos:~$ apt list gnome-contacts

Identical output to yours, except that I only used one space between list and gnome-contacts for my input text, and the last part is [installed, automatic].

You can deal with that package “issue” by using sudo apt-mark auto gnome-contacts.

Note that I just reflashed my Librem 5 USA, but based on current information so far, there does not seem to be much difference between our software. I reimported my contacts and I still have the phone icon under the contact name(s).

You are lucky – my button are identical generic icons. I’m always hitting the wrong one!

Did you choose to do that?

There you go… edited the post above.

How did that happen?

Also, how did you get the dark theme applied? GNOME Tweaks has no effect with this app.

I’m not sure how it happened. It was right when I received the phone almost a year ago and for months after. Probably an update, but I update almost every day but only use Contacts to call a couple of times a month.

The dark theme from some advice received on the forum about months ago. I really wish that I had taken notes of the tweaks I’ve made… I will pay for that after I flash Crimson.

Well with a little bit of digging through your posts, I found the answer:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface gtk-theme "Adwaita-dark"
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface color-scheme "prefer-dark"

If you want to reflash your Librem 5, I can provide instructions for either Byzantium or Crimson if desired.
