After I upgraded my Librem 14 to Fedora 41 two of my keys are being triggered at the same time and in the same order. If I click the left arrow key, it goes left one space and then inserts a ‘k’. If I click the K key, it also goes left one space and then inserts a ‘k’. If I have caps lock on or hold down Shift, it does the same thing but inserts a capital ‘K’.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before, or ideas how to troubleshoot?
I thought I’ll ask before emailing support.
As @FranklyFlawless pointed out, that’s consistent with a short in the keyboard matrix. “Left arrow” and “K” are in the same column, so those two rows may be shorted.
Try F7/F8 and F6/F9 (the only two other pairs on the same rows). If they also short the same way, it’s definitely the keyboard matrix.
It never hurts to try a live boot, but if the F6-F9 behavior is also consistent with a short in the keyboard matrix, it’s unlikely to show anything different.
You can of course contact support@puri.sm with your order number too. We are still working through a support backlog, but we are working to get responses to all requests. (Many of the fine folks on our team are helping out, and it is greatly appreciated.)
The tips in that linked thread are good if you are comfortable with disassembly:
try re-seating thekeyboard connector (be careful as the black tab can break if not lifted properly)
check for debris around the keyboard connector’s electrical contacts and the EC
