This is mostly a question on hardware limits. The internal speaker on the librem 5 is pretty low in pureOS, at least when listening to audiobooks. Is this excessive safety or can we get in and adjust the loudness upwards by about 20% without damage or distortion?
It can depend on the original e.g. Clipping (audio) - Wikipedia
I never even get close to clipping the peaks off of the waveform but that is part of the ask, the audio sounds nowhere close to overdriving the pa.

Maybe it is due to the modus operandi of a privacy phone. Vibrate mode notwithstanding they could have had a ringtone that whispers: “Pssst, you have a phone call.”
