Today my Librem 5 won’t turn on. When plugged in, I get a red light in the upper right hand corner for a few minutes, then nothing. Other than that, plugged or unplugged, there is zero sign of life. Anyone have any ideas here?
Battery went completely flat?
Try again with battery taken out?
I believe this issue has been discussed several times in this forum so I suggest using the search function (top right) to discover the actual correct procedure.
Thanks. I will try searching again. I couldn’t find anything here or reddit. I have removed and reinstalled battery, tried charging for hours, etc. I will try to find the procedure. Thanks again!
Maybe this: https://docs.puri.sm/Librem_5/Troubleshooting/Charging.html#evergreen
Warning: I have linked to the procedure for Evergreen but I am only assuming that that is the batch that includes your phone. If not, scroll up in that page for earlier batches.
Thank you. This solved the issue.
Good news! This is now the top search result for “librem 5 dead battery instructions”.
bad news! https://docs.puri.sm/Librem_5/Troubleshooting/Charging.html#evergreen is a dead link. Can someone share the instructions here so future me and others can turn their evergreen librem on again after the battery dies?
This time:
Case: Light goes green for 1-2 seconds, goes yellow 1-2 seconds, goes red, tries to turn on the screen, and boot loops.
Solution:
- Plug in the librem 5 to a reasonably strong usbc power source.
- Hold volume down and power. The system should stop rebooting at this point and the light will stay a solid red.
- Wait for reasonable charge. Power on as usual.
There is another set of instructions for a completely dead battery, something about removing the battery, plugging it in… holding down buttons, then adding the battery back? Something like that. If anyone has the details, please share because I’m working off of memory and optimism here.
