The implication here is that it’s a permanent price change?

Yes, until the next price change at least:

Other than $100 USD, what’s the difference between:
699

and

599

and both have the same description?

One of them was a limited flash sale, and the other is the current Librem 5 pricing.

700$ is much more acceptable price. But the damage has been done. I don’t know if there are any people out there still buying this phone.

No one knows except Purism, and there is no longer a need to “estimate your Librem 5 shipping”.

One has label “Liberty Phone (made in USA)” for $699.00
and the other one is the ‘regular’ edition for $599.00

So despite the same description there is a difference :innocent:

I think that 1000.00 it is fair price for Librem 5.
699 is too cheaper and unfair for Purism

L5 is extremly Amazing.

On the other hand, $699 USD is easier for potential Librem 5 owners to justify.

Wow. There’s a lot to be said about “caveat emptor” and “read the fine print” and “Don’t believe anything on the Internet”.

If USB method fails, then the gloves come off.

Here’s some hightlights of Purism 2023 financial performance.

  • Debt and Inventory are down.
  • Sales is up.
  • Cost of Goods is stable.

The $599 flash sale and now permanent price reduction shouldn’t be much of surprise.

So is this $699 ‘Liberty Phone’ the USA one that was about $2k?

Sorry for the confusion. I’m not sure why the thumbnail is auto-generating the subtext about the Liberty phone, but these are about the Librem 5. The older $599 was a short flash sale. The $699 price is the new base price of the Librem 5. The Liberty phone remains $1,999.

No problems David @david.hamner. Thanks for getting back.
You said older is 599. How old is Older?

Are you comparing L5 @ $699 being too cheap compared to other cells?

Frankly, judging usability for someone who just wants a cell like Apples or Googles, and available apps, and quality, IMO, $699 is too much.

Of course Puri doesn’t have hundreds of professionals building the other guys cells. The price should reflect that.

April 26th, 2024 was the start of the flash sale.

I thought the $500 was cheaper because L5 was older.
Side note:
I’m taking the L5 to a shop tech that might be able to take a look at the MMSC.

No comparing L5 to other Cells as L5 is completely different from the others Cells and there is no cells to compare L5, i comparing with all the money that Purism spended to make Librem 5 a Reality.
L5 is Extremly Amazing in all the ways.

Yes you are right and you may choose a Linux Opensource OS like Android/Linux on Sony Xperia Devices.
