Purism 14 motherboard (PCIe 4.0 ?)

Hi, does the Purism 14 have PCIe 4.0-compatible motherboard?
Is the Purism 14 + 1TB SSD Nmve Pro combo PCIe 4.0-ready?

Thanks in advance

From https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark/products/196448/intel-core-i7-10710u-processor-12m-cache-up-to-4-70-ghz.html I would guess “no”.

Thank you.

Comet Lake doesn’t support PCIe 4.0. You can buy your own 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD and install it:

the OP probably has the intention to run a pcie 4.0 x4 m2 NVME SSD drive …

@lchap78zxyq33k22 hello and welcome ! just FYI pcie 4.0 x4 can run at the same speed on pcie 3.0 x8. that being said i’m not aware of ANY pcie 4.0 open-hardware mother-boards on the market …

some still have compatibility issues with SATA 3 (they don’t run at full 6Gb/s only 3Gb/s)

The Raptor Talos II uses PCIe 4.0, runs on 100% free software, and is RYF certified. Of course, it isn’t free/open hardware, but the only open/free hardware motherboards that I know of are the Novena, MNT Reform and OLIMEX TERES-I.

not x86 though and EXPENSIVE …

OLIMEX makes a whole bunch of free/open hardware components that are inexpensive, but if you want x86 processors, then you can forget about it. All x86 reference designs have copyright restrictions, so you are never going to get an x86 free/open hardware device.
